Mikrotik RouterOS 5.1 – kaj je novega v IPv6

Mikrotik je izdal uradno različico RouteOS 5.1, ki vsebuje kar nekaj novih IPv6 funkcionalnosti napram verziji 4.x. Novo verzijo smo preizkusili in zadeva deluje odlično…

V RouterOS verziji 4.x so že bile dodane nekatere osnovne funkcije IPv6, kot so požarni zid, OSPFv3, RIPng, BGP v IPv6 podporo, SLAAC, etc…

Poglejmo najprej kakšne so nekatere novosti iz področja IPv6, ki so bile dodane čez vse RC verzije RouterOS 5.x:
*) added IPv6 support to trafflow (v9 only);
*) added support for IPv6 over PPP
(enabled by default if ipv6 package is installed),
link-local addresses are assigned, and server can issue IPv6 global prefixes
to clients per ppp secret or RADIUS reply (Framed-IPv6-Prefix);
*) pcq – added ipv6 support;
*) allow to specify multiple networks (including IPv6)
in user’s allowed-from list;
*) handle correctly IPv6 address on bridged or switched interfaces;
*) added IPv6 connection list;
*) added IPV6 support to graphing;
*) added IPv6 support to SNTP client;
*) added IPv6 support to NTP client & server;
*) added IPv6 support to RADIUS client;
*) added IPv6 support to snmp;
*) added IPv6 support to tftp server, also changed logging levels;
*) added IPv6 support to ssh client;
*) added IPv6 support to watchdog;
*) added IPv6 support for /tool e-mail;
*) added IPv6 support to log remote target;

*) route – fixed limit on maximum active IPv6 route count,
*) routing – fixed ipv6 connected routes,
IPv6 connected routes disappeared after interface restart;
*) routing – fixed high CPU usage when adding BGP ipv6 routes;
*) ipsec – added ipv6 support;
*) bgp – removed “interface” property from bgp peer configuration, now
ipv6 link local remote address must be specified using the
“address%interface” notation;

Večino novih IPv6 funcionalnosti smo stestirali, za nekatere poslali tudi “bug report” in napake so bile zelo hitro odpravljene.

S temi novostmi se postavlja Mikrotik kot funkcionalno zelo zanimiva platforma za usmerjanje IPv6 prometa tudi v resnejših okoljih, saj njihov “flagship” router RB1100 zmore kar 3,5Gbps prometa. Seveda to ni carrier grade naprava, a glede na ceno (368,75 € + DDV) zmore vse (in še več) kar zmorejo veliki.

Za domačo uporabo se največ uporablja RB750(G), saj je cenovno dokaj dostopen in funkcionalno omogoča vse, kar omogočajo večji modeli – razlika je le v zmogljivosti. Ker so v verzijo RouterOS 5 uvedli PPPv6, lahko  pričakujemo, da bi kmalu lahko začeli testirati dostop do IPv6 preko PPPoE povezav na naše operaterje in ponudnike dostopa do interneta.

RouterOS 5 prinaša veliko IPv6 novosti in je svetel zgled, kako naj bi proizvajalci IKT opreme morali tudi v nižjem cenovnem razredu opreme uvedbo IPv6 vzeti zelo resno.
